British Values

Cecil Gowing Infant School is dedicated to serving our diverse community and upholding fundamental British values. We understand the importance of fostering an inclusive environment where individuals of all backgrounds feel respected and valued.

Our commitment to British values is evident throughout our school culture and curriculum. We actively promote democracy by involving children in the democratic process through our School Council and engaging with the community to discuss local issues.

We champion individual liberty by empowering children to make informed choices and encouraging them to understand the consequences of their actions. Through the Nurtured Heart Approach and various extracurricular activities, we instill the importance of personal responsibility and autonomy.

Mutual respect is at the heart of our school ethos, demonstrated through our sports activities, PSHE curriculum, and emphasis on values such as kindness, resilience, and creativity. We emphasise equality, fairness, and empathy, fostering a culture of respect and understanding among our children.

Tolerance of different faiths and beliefs is central to our school community. Our RE curriculum provides comprehensive education on various faiths and cultures, and we celebrate diversity through cultural events, and guest speakers.

We are committed to promoting a harmonious and inclusive learning environment where every child feels valued and respected, regardless of their background or beliefs. Should you have any concerns about our adherence to British values, please do not hesitate to contact the Headteacher.
